I have not tried batoning anything harder than pine with it as I don't think it would hold up to Osage Orange or oak. But a small fixed blade is sometimes enough for short trips. No, it won't replace a Mora which can be had for the same price and is more capable. The drop point accompanies my SAK Farmer if I am out with a light haversack for a quick outing. The drop point is better suited for some bushcraft chores. I use the SPEW for food prep both at home and while out in the woods. For small knives they are not bad for the price. Does anyone like the CRKT Minimalist Series knives? I have the SPEW and the Minimalist Drop Point.
